Heck Statement on December Employment Report
Congressman Joe Heck made the following statement regarding December’s national employment situation. The economy created 200,000 new jobs as the unemployment rate ticked down 0.1 percent to 8.5 percent.
“200,000 Americans went back to work in December, but Washington politicians shouldn’t declare this a victory as more than 13 million Americans remain unemployed. This recession continues battering Nevada families and still the President delays 20,000 construction jobs waiting to be filled for purely political reasons. Nevada construction workers and their families need those jobs, and they deserve leaders who put those needs above political expediency.”
BACKGROUND:
67,700 Nevada construction jobs have been lost since 2008
